Mithridates VI Eupator

King of Pontus who fought Rome for 25 years across three wars. Ordered the massacre of 80,000 Italians in Asia Minor in 88 BCE (the Asian Vespers). Survived poison attempts by taking small doses throughout his life, rendering himself immune. Driven from his kingdom by Lucullus and Pompey, finally died at his own order — too poisoned to be poisoned, he had himself run through by a Gallic officer.
