Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab
Arabian Islamic theologian (1703–1792) who preached a strict return to Salafi principles and founded the Wahhabi reform movement. His 1744 pact with tribal chief Muhammad ibn Saud at Diriyah fused religious authority with political power, creating the foundation for all three Saudi states and spreading his doctrine globally through Saudi oil wealth.
