Muhammad ibn Saud
Emir of Diriyah and patriarch of the House of Saud who, in 1744, concluded a mutual-support pact with reformist cleric Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab, combining political and religious authority; his descendants went on to establish the First Saudi State, and later the modern Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
