Pedro IV of Portugal
Pedro IV of Portugal (Pedro I of Brazil) briefly became King of Portugal in 1826 but abdicated in favour of his daughter Maria within weeks. He later returned to Europe to lead the Liberal forces against his absolutist brother Miguel in the Liberal Wars, securing the constitutional throne for his daughter.
