Lorenzo Corsini, pope 1730–1740. The first pope to condemn Freemasonry (In Eminenti, 1738). Blind for most of his pontificate, he ruled through his nephew. He commissioned the Trevi Fountain and restored the Lateran Basilica. His pontificate saw the decline of papal temporal power.
