Porus

Porus commanded the largest Indian army Alexander had yet faced, including 200 war elephants. Defeated but fighting personally until wounded, his dignified response when asked how he wished to be treated ('As a king should treat another king') so moved Alexander that he restored and expanded his kingdom, making Porus a satrap ally.
