Prithviraj Chauhan

Chahamana (Chauhan) king of Ajmer and Delhi, who defeated Muhammad of Ghor at Tarain in 1191 and was defeated and killed there in 1192. His afterlife is larger than his reign: the Prithviraj Raso, a bardic epic composed centuries later and of very doubtful historicity, made him a symbol of Rajput resistance whose modern political uses have little to do with the twelfth century.
