Ptolemy I Soter
Ptolemy I Soter was one of Alexander the Great's most trusted generals who seized Egypt after Alexander's death and founded the Ptolemaic dynasty that would rule for nearly three centuries. He established Alexandria as a center of Hellenistic culture and learning, founding the famous Library of Alexandria and the Mouseion. His dynasty ended with Cleopatra VII, the last pharaoh of Egypt.
