Scipio Africanus
Scipio Africanus was Rome's greatest general during the Second Punic War, who devised the bold strategy of invading Carthage's North African homeland to force Hannibal's recall from Italy. He defeated Hannibal at the decisive Battle of Zama in 202 BC, ending the Second Punic War and cementing Roman dominance in the western Mediterranean. His innovative tactics and personal charisma made him one of the most celebrated commanders in Roman history.
