Seleucus I Nicator

Seleucus I Nicator was one of Alexander the Great's generals who founded the Seleucid Empire, the largest of the Hellenistic successor states, stretching from Anatolia to India. He secured his eastern territories through a treaty with Chandragupta Maurya, ceding much of the Indian subcontinent in exchange for war elephants. His dynasty ruled much of the Middle East for over two centuries, spreading Greek culture throughout the region.
