Sennacherib

Sennacherib (reigned 705-681 BCE) was one of the most powerful and controversial kings of the Neo-Assyrian Empire. He moved the Assyrian capital to Nineveh, which he transformed into a magnificent city. His military campaigns included the destruction of Babylon in 689 BCE and the siege of Jerusalem in 701 BCE, described in both Assyrian annals and the Hebrew Bible. He was murdered by his own sons.
