Siegfried Sassoon
Siegfried Sassoon was a British poet and soldier whose biting anti-war poetry made him one of the leading literary voices of World War I. He served on the Western Front and won the Military Cross, but later issued a public statement refusing to return to the front. His poetry, including collections such as The Old Huntsman, depicted the horror and futility of trench warfare.
