Sophocles
Sophocles was one of the three great tragedians of ancient Greece, who added a third actor to drama and reduced the role of the chorus, making plays more character-driven. He wrote approximately 123 plays and won more dramatic competitions than any other ancient playwright; seven complete tragedies survive, including Oedipus Rex and Antigone. His works profoundly influenced Western drama and literature.
