Steve McQueen
Steve McQueen (born 1969) is a British-Caribbean film director and Turner Prize-winning artist. His debut feature Hunger (2008) depicted the 1981 IRA hunger strikes and the death of Bobby Sands in the Maze Prison, bringing international attention to that chapter of the Troubles. He later directed 12 Years a Slave (2013), which won the Academy Award for Best Picture, and the television series Small Axe (2020).
