Stilicho

Half-Vandal Roman general who served as magister militum and effective regent of the Western Roman Empire from 395 CE. He defeated Alaric's Visigoths multiple times but was unable to eliminate the Gothic threat. Executed by Emperor Honorius in 408 CE on suspicion of treason; his death removed the last effective defender of the western frontier.
