Suryavarman II

Khmer king who seized the throne in his teens, reunified the empire and began Angkor Wat, dedicating it to Vishnu rather than to Shiva as his predecessors had. It is the largest religious monument in the world and, unusually, faces west, which is why it is thought to have been intended as his funerary temple.
