Tarquinius Priscus
Fifth king of Rome (traditionally 616-579 BCE), the first Etruscan king. He transformed Rome's physical landscape with the Cloaca Maxima sewer draining the Forum, the Circus Maximus, and the foundation of the Capitoline temple. He introduced Etruscan royal regalia — the toga praetexta, curule chair, fasces — that remained Roman symbols for a millennium. He was murdered by the sons of Ancus Marcius.
