Thaïs

Thaïs accompanied the Macedonian court and became Ptolemy I's mistress and later his wife or companion, bearing him three children. The ancient sources (Diodorus, Athenaeus) credit her with drunkenly suggesting the burning of Persepolis as revenge for Persian destruction of Athens — a moment Alexander may have later regretted.
