Themistocles
Themistocles was an Athenian general and politician who played a decisive role in the Greek victory over Persia during the Second Persian War. He persuaded Athens to build a powerful fleet and masterminded the naval strategy at the Battle of Salamis in 480 BC, which shattered Persian naval power. Despite his genius, he was later ostracized from Athens and ended his days in Persian service.
