Tigranes II the Great

King of Armenia who built an empire stretching from the Caucasus to Mesopotamia, taking the title 'King of Kings.' Sheltered his father-in-law Mithridates VI when Lucullus drove him from Pontus. Defeated by Lucullus at Tigranocerta and later submitted to Pompey, retaining Armenia as a client kingdom of Rome.
