Togodumnus

Togodumnus was a king of the Catuvellauni tribe in southern Britain, son of Cunobelin (Shakespeare's Cymbeline) and brother of Caratacus. When the Emperor Claudius launched his invasion of Britain in 43 CE under Aulus Plautius, Togodumnus and Caratacus led the main British resistance. They fought a two-day battle at the Medway River — one of the few named battles of the conquest — before being pushed back. Togodumnus died in the subsequent fighting, possibly while trying to rally retreating forces, his death reportedly causing the Britons to fight harder in revenge. Caratacus continued resistance for another eight years.
