Tullus Hostilius
Third king of Rome (traditionally 673-642 BCE), the most warlike of the early kings. He destroyed Alba Longa — Rome's own mother city — and absorbed its population. He instituted the trial of the Horatii-Curiatii and expanded Roman territory aggressively. Ancient tradition recorded that he died struck by lightning, punishment for neglecting the gods.
