Võ Nguyên Giáp

Vietnamese general (1911–2013) who commanded the Viet Minh forces to victory at the Battle of Dien Bien Phu on 7 May 1954, ending French rule in Indochina; later directed the North Vietnamese Army and NLF through the Tet Offensive of 1968 and the final Ho Chi Minh Campaign that reunified Vietnam in April 1975.
