William Pitt the Elder
William Pitt the Elder, later Earl of Chatham, served as the effective Prime Minister of Britain during the Seven Years' War and masterminded the global strategy that won it. He redirected British resources toward naval power and colonial campaigns while subsidising Prussia to tie down France in Europe, famously declaring that he would conquer America in Germany.
