Zeno of Citium
Zeno of Citium was the founder of Stoicism, the most influential philosophical school of the Greco-Roman world. Born in Cyprus of Phoenician heritage, he taught in Athens at the Stoa Poikile from around 300 BCE, developing a comprehensive system of logic, physics, and ethics centred on virtue as the sole good, natural law, and the cosmopolitan brotherhood of humanity.
