Achaean League
A federation of city-states in the northern Peloponnese, revived c.280 BCE and the leading power of Hellenistic Greece under Aratus of Sicyon and Philopoemen. Its defiance of Rome triggered the Achaean War; the sack of Corinth in 146 BCE ended the League and Greek independence.
