Belarus
Belarus declared independence in August 1991 and was one of the three founding signatories of the Belavezha Accords (December 8, 1991) that formally dissolved the Soviet Union and established the CIS. The Belavezha meeting took place in the Białowieża Forest on Belarusian territory.
