Boeotia
A Greek region dominated by Thebes, whose Sacred Band achieved Boeotian hegemony over Greece after defeating Sparta at Leuctra (371 BCE). The Boeotian League was dissolved after Philip II of Macedon's victory at Chaeronea (338 BCE), ending Greek city-state independence.
