Botswana
Botswana is a landlocked state in Southern Africa, much of it covered by the Kalahari Desert. A British protectorate known as Bechuanaland, it became independent in 1966. Since independence it has been noted for political stability and diamond-driven economic growth. Its capital is Gaborone and the Okavango Delta lies in its north.
