Burundi
Burundi is a small, densely populated landlocked state in the Great Lakes region of East Africa. Formerly part of Belgian-administered Ruanda-Urundi, it gained independence in 1962. Its post-colonial history has been marked by ethnic tension between Hutu and Tutsi communities and periodic civil conflict. Its capital is Gitega.
