Central African Republic

The Central African Republic is a landlocked state at the heart of the African continent, formerly the French colony of Ubangi-Shari before independence in 1960. Rich in minerals yet among the world's least developed countries, it has experienced repeated coups and civil conflict. Its capital is Bangui on the Ubangi River.
