Crown of Castile
The Crown of Castile was the dominant kingdom of the Iberian Peninsula in the late medieval and early modern period. After the personal union with the Crown of Aragon under Ferdinand and Isabella (1469), it became the primary vehicle of Spanish overseas expansion - Columbus sailed under its flag and the conquistadores held their commissions from the Castilian Crown.
