Czechoslovakia
Czechoslovakia was formed in 1918 from the Czech and Slovak lands of the former Austria-Hungary. The Munich Agreement of September 1938 forced the cession of the Sudetenland to Germany; the rump state was occupied and dissolved in March 1939 (Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia + Slovak puppet state). Restored in 1945, it became a communist state in 1948 and was peacefully dissolved into the Czech Republic and Slovakia on 1 January 1993.
