Djibouti
Djibouti is a small state in the Horn of Africa at the strategic mouth of the Red Sea, commanding the Bab-el-Mandeb strait. Formerly French Somaliland, it became independent in 1977. Its location on key shipping lanes has made it a major port and host to foreign military bases. Its capital is the city of Djibouti.
