Dominica

Dominica is a mountainous, volcanic island state in the eastern Caribbean, between the French territories of Guadeloupe and Martinique, with its capital at Roseau. Contested between Britain and France during the colonial era, it gained independence in 1978 as a parliamentary republic. Heavily forested and rugged, it is noted for its natural environment.
