Equatorial Guinea

Equatorial Guinea is a small Central African state comprising a mainland region and several islands in the Gulf of Guinea, including Bioko where the capital Malabo is located. A former Spanish colony, it became independent in 1968 and is the only sovereign African state with Spanish as an official language. Offshore oil has dominated its economy since the 1990s.
