Estonia

Estonia declared the restoration of its independence on August 20, 1991, during the Moscow coup attempt. The Baltic states, including Estonia, had never been recognised by the United States as legitimately incorporated into the USSR (the non-recognition policy), which facilitated rapid international acceptance of their independence. Estonia joined NATO and the EU in 2004.
