Fatimid Caliphate
An Isma'ili Shia caliphate founded in Ifriqiya in 909 and ruling from Cairo (founded 969) at its height over North Africa, the Levant and the Hejaz. The Fatimids rivalled the Sunni Abbasids and Umayyads for leadership of the Islamic world until Saladin abolished the dynasty in 1171.
