Fiji
Fiji is an archipelagic state in the South Pacific made up of hundreds of volcanic islands, with its capital at Suva. A former British colony shaped by the importation of indentured South Asian labourers, it gained independence in 1970. Tensions between Indigenous Fijians and the Indo-Fijian community have driven recurrent political upheaval and coups.
