Free Territory of Trieste

Created by the Paris Peace Treaty (1947) as an independent city-state under UN protection between Italy and Yugoslavia. Zone A (including Trieste city) was administered by Allied forces, Zone B by Yugoslavia. Dissolved in 1954 when Zone A was transferred to Italy and Zone B to Yugoslavia.
