Gambia

The Gambia is the smallest mainland African state, a narrow strip following the Gambia River and almost entirely surrounded by Senegal. A former British colony, it became independent in 1965. Its economy relies on agriculture, fishing and tourism along the Atlantic coast. Its capital is Banjul at the river's mouth.
