Ghurid Sultanate

A dynasty from the mountains of Ghur in central Afghanistan that displaced the Ghaznavids and, under Muhammad of Ghor, carried conquest into the Ganges plain. Its Turkic slave generals founded the Delhi Sultanate, so that Muslim rule in north India descends institutionally from a short-lived Afghan highland state.
