Guyana

Guyana is a state on the northern coast of South America, bordering Venezuela, Brazil and Suriname, with its capital at Georgetown. The only Commonwealth nation on the South American mainland, it was formerly British Guiana and gained independence in 1966. Its ethnically diverse population reflects a plantation past, and offshore oil has transformed its economy.
