Habsburg Monarchy
The Habsburg Monarchy encompassed Austria, Bohemia, Hungary, and several other territories ruled by the Habsburg dynasty. Under Maria Theresa it fought the Seven Years' War primarily to recover Silesia from Prussia, investing enormous resources for an outcome that ultimately confirmed the status quo. The failure to recover Silesia shaped Habsburg policy and the Austria-Prussia rivalry for the next hundred years.
