Hindi Belt (Indo-Gangetic heartland)

The Hindi/Hindustani-speaking heartland of the northern plains, from the Delhi Sultanate's Hindavi vernacular onward. Densely populated and agrarian, it is the demographic and electoral pivot of the Indian republic and the cradle of pan-Indian Hindi-Urdu literary culture.
