Idaho

A Far West mining and farming state whose southeast belongs to the Mormon Deseret culture, Idaho was settled late after gold strikes in the 1860s. The Snake River plain made it a leading producer of potatoes and other irrigated crops. Rugged wilderness covers much of its mountainous north.
