Jordan
Jordan, created as the Emirate of Transjordan under British Mandate in 1921, became an independent kingdom in 1946. The 1994 Wadi Araba Treaty made Jordan the second Arab state to make peace with Israel. A constitutional monarchy under the Hashemite dynasty, Jordan has maintained stability in a turbulent region despite scarce natural resources.
