Kingdom of Cyprus

The Kingdom of Cyprus was a crusader state established by Guy of Lusignan in 1192 after Richard I of England sold him the island during the Third Crusade. It became an important trading hub and refuge for crusader refugees, ruled by the Lusignan dynasty. The kingdom maintained relative independence due to its island position until falling to Venice in 1489 and then the Ottomans in 1571.
