Kingdom of Dacia

Dacian kingdom north of the Danube in what is now Romania and Moldova. Under King Decebalus it modernised its army and extracted tribute from Rome before being conquered in Trajan's two Dacian Wars (101-102 CE and 105-106 CE). Rich in gold and silver, Dacia became a Roman province whose mines funded Trajan's building programme.
