Laos

Laos is a landlocked state in mainland Southeast Asia, bordered by Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, Myanmar and China, with its capital at Vientiane. Successor to the old Lao kingdom of Lan Xang, it was incorporated into French Indochina before independence in 1953. Heavily affected by the wars in Indochina, it became a one-party socialist republic led by the Lao People's Revolutionary Party.
